[10] In 1621 the city was besieged from the Bavarians led by Tilly and following large bombardment the town was forced to surrender and the Saxons had to go away. The town was then punished for disobedience by substantial repressive steps. This example recurred once more in 1631 when the burghers allowed the Saxons to enter and conquered the town.
